Union Square

The Union Square area is known for its bistros, shopping and live music venues. The historic and massive Strand Bookstore, the famous Washington Square Arch, plus famed concert venues Webster Hall and Irving Plaza are just a few of the must-see places in the area. The Union Square park captures much of the city’s diversity and has an energy all its own. The creative life of Union Square doesn’t begin and end with the performers in the park—there are indoor and outdoor art exhibits to enjoy throughout the neighborhood and a busy, long-running farmer’s market: Union Square Greenmarket.

Lower East Side

The Lower East Side is the perfect habitation for hipsters. This confluence of art, culture and culinary magic offers irresistibly chic boutiques, cafes, parks and trendy bars. There are so many cool places to eat within walking distance, and among the iconic places worth a visit are Katz Deli, the Bowery Hotel and Williamsburg Bridge. As the oldest part of New York City, it offers a unique vibe with a combination of turn-of-the-century fabric stores, the Orchard Street’s Lower East Side Tenement Museum and hip music venues. The area is chock-full of reasonably-priced shops and restaurants, including piping hot (and tasty) pizza at $3 a slice!
